Zach Parise Returns to NHL on 1-Year Deal with Avalanche
After appearing in 82 games in each of the last two seasons with the New York Islanders, forward Zach Parise is returning to the league this season with the Colorado Avalanche. He scored 21 goals last season and looks to be a quality depth forward for an Avalanche team that needs it.
Owen Tippett Signs 8-Year Extension with Flyers
The last two seasons with the Philadephia Flyers have been great for the trajectory of Owen Tippett’s career. The former first-round pick of the Florida Panthers has loads of talent. He scored 27 goals in 77 games last season and 18 goals in 46 games this season before going down with injury. The eight-year extension with the Flyers is worth $6.2 million per season.
Auston Matthews Scores 40th Goal and Sets a Maple Leafs Record
Auston Matthews scored his 40th goal of the season in the 46th game of his season in a win over the Winnipeg Jets. His 40th goal was also his 600th career point and he’s now the fastest player in Toronto Maple Leafs history to reach 600 points. What a terrific career for Matthews so far.
Salt Lake City, Utah Group Asks NHL to Initiate Expansion Process
It was announced on Wednesday that the Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) (the parent company of the NBA’s Utah Jazz) formally requested the NHL to initiate the expansion process. The release from SEG mentioned that Jazz governor Ryan Smith and Ashley Smith have been in contact with commissioner Gary Bettman since 2022. It’ll be interesting to see how this story develops as the NHL currently sits at 32 teams.
2024 Stadium Series Jerseys Unveiled
The 2024 Stadium Series will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17 between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Rangers and New York Islanders going head to head the next day. The jerseys will certainly turn heads.
