Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov Quietly Leading the League in Points
The league leader in points right now is winger Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Heading into Saturday night’s game, Kucherov had 44 points in 27 games, including seven points in his last five. He previously led the league in points in 2018-19 with 128 points, which has held his career high.
The 2024 NHL Entry Draft Will Take Place in the Vegas Sphere
The details aren’t finalized yet, but it appears that the NHL Entry Draft is heading to the Sphere in Las Vegas. The Draft will take place on June 28th and 29th with representatives from all 32 teams in attendance. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says, “it’ll be pretty dramatic.”
Connor McDavid Scores NHL’s Goal of the Season Against Minnesota
After a slow start, Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has been scorching hot with 14 points in his last five games, including this filthy goal he scored on Friday night against the Minnesota Wild.
2024 World Junior Championships Schedule Dropped
The 2024 World Junior Championships will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2024. The start times in the Eastern time zone on the first two days will be 6 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. Canada will play Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany before the quarterfinals, while the United States will take on Norway, Switzerland, Czechia, and Slovakia.
Patrick Kane Scores First Goal With Red Wings
Patrick Kane has played two games since signing with the Detroit Red Wings last week. In his second game, he scored a power-play goal and the team’s lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. So far, the team is 0-1-1 with Kane in the lineup.
Alex Ovechkin Reaches 1,500th NHL Point Against Stars
Add another milestone to the list for Washington Capitals and NHL legend Alex Ovechkin. In a game against the Dallas Stars, Ovechkin grabbed a helper on a goal by Dylan Strome, becoming his 1,500th point in the NHL. He becomes the 16th player in NHL history to reach 1,500 career points.
