Coyotes’ Simashev Poised For Prominent Season in KHL
September 7, 2023 by Cooper Krigbaum
The Arizona Coyotes entered the 2023 Draft filled with endless possibilities as they surveyed their options in a rather deep class. It was headlined by Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and many more. There was also Matvei Michkov, who presented the league with many questions as no one could grasp where he would fall. Then there was the Coyotes, who were set to draft at six. With many rumors and speculation on how the draft would play out following the top five, not one mock draft had general manager Bill Armstrong taking smooth skater, Dmitri Simashev.
At the time, Simashev was projected to go around the late teens and into the early 20s, but analysts would be lying if they said they expected him to go at six. Many thought it was a massive reach, and having a generational talent in Michkov on the board left plenty of people puzzled. While many factors play into drafting a player, Simashev has a chance to dominate the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) this season, where he’ll be playing against premier talent.
Arizona Coyotes Logo History
April 23, 2023 by Patrick Brown
The Arizona Coyotes franchise already has extensive history around its logos and jerseys, as the club has undergone multiple rebranding initiatives throughout its history. The team, like every club in the NHL, has seen its ups and downs over the last quarter-century, but the franchise’s struggles have, more often than not, received the most attention in the news cycle.
Off-the-ice problems have earned the team a lot of detractors outside of Arizona, and it’s no secret that the Coyotes are one of the most divisive teams in the history of North American professional sports. There are very few people on the fence here – The masses seem to either love or hate the Coyotes, and the same has applied to the team’s logos over the years.
Coyotes Have Mistakes to Clean Up Before Contention
September 9, 2023 by Haynes Evans
The Arizona Coyotes are just a little under two weeks away from kicking off the 2023-24 NHL season with two preseason matchups against the Los Angeles Kings in Melbourne, Australia. This historical feat marks the first ever NHL games to be played in the Southern Hemisphere as part of the NHL’s Global Series.
As training camps kick off for a handful of organizations around the league, general manager Bill Armstrong has remained at the forefront of it all. After addressing the team’s direction at the start of the offseason to build a competitive, well-rounded roster, the Coyotes GM, who signed a contract extension this past week, has stayed true to his word with veteran additions such as Matt Dumba, Jason Zucker, Nick Bjugstad, Troy Stecher, Alex Kerfoot, and Travis Dermott, along with some youthfulness in Sean Durzi, Dylan Guenther, and Logan Cooley.
