The Hurricanes Beat the Islanders in Game 1
The Carolina Hurricanes started the playoffs on a high note with a 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders in Game 1 of the series.
The Hurricanes scored two goals in the third period on Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov. The Hurricanes got goals from Evgeny Kuznetsov, Stefan Noesen, and Martin Necas. Goaltender Frederik Andersen was phenomenal with 33 saves on 34 shots.
Game 2 is slated for Monday, April 22 at 7:30 pm EST on ESPN2 & SN360.
The Bruins Beat the Maple Leafs in Game 1
The Boston Bruins jumped on the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1 at home and won by a score of 5-1. In the three previous series between these two (2013, 2018, 2019), the Bruins won all three and won the first game of the series in 2013 and 2018.
In this one, the Bruins held a 4-0 lead going into the third period before David Kampf scored the Maple Leafs’ first and only goal. Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk tallied two goals and an assist, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman saved 37 of 38 shots.
Game 2 will take place on Monday, April 22 at 7 PM EST on ESPN & Sportsnet.
Bruins came out to play last night. SWAYMAN was great and keep his team in it. Pasta was talked to after the Leafs scored which was the right think to do. Domi needs to get to put into his place maybe next game as he is no Marchy like he thinks he is. Let's hope the next game has the same results. Go Bruins
