Jack Campbell Earns Likely Last Chance in NHL With Detroit Red Wings
July 3, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers made the decision prior to free agency to buy out the final three seasons of goaltender Jack Campbell’s contract. While it saves them some money now, it may hurt them a bit down the line as he’ll cost the team money and won’t be playing for them. Unfortunately for Campbell, he had a terrible tenure with the Oilers and it’s no surprise that he is no longer with the team. On a brighter note, he was able to land on his feet and earn a new contract with the Detroit Red Wings, who signed him to a one-year deal worth $775,000. While the Red Wings fanbase seemed a bit confused by the move, it seems to be something they did to add depth between the pipes, and it’s a low-risk deal that could pay off if Campbell can miraculously bounce back.
Detroit Red Wings Sign Vladimir Tarasenko to 2-Year Deal
July 3, 2024 by Alex Hutton
The Detroit Red Wings announced that they have signed forward Vladimir Tarasenko to a two-year, $9.5 million contract.
In his 12-season career, Tarasenko has played for four teams, primarily the St. Louis Blues, who selected him in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2023-24 season with the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers, recording 55 points in 76 regular season games, as well as nine points in 24 playoff games en route to his second Stanley Cup.

Red Wings’ Projected Depth Chart for 2024-25
July 4, 2024 by Tony Wolak
We’ve reached the point where the Detroit Red Wings’ roster is just about set for 2024-25. There could be another move or two, but, generally speaking, the Red Wings are in good shape.
In all, Steve Yzerman completed three trades and signed nine players, including…
Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman Silences Critics with Tarasenko Signing
July 4, 2024 by Evan Sabourin
Social media has impacted our lives in more ways than we sometimes realize. Everything nowadays is quick and on demand. We want it now. One of the biggest drawbacks of all of this is that patience is harder to come by. That was never more evident with Detroit Red Wings fans than after the first day of free agency. Something? Anything? What is the general manager doing? But that’s not the game Steve Yzerman is playing this summer. Patience is key to his approach. He re-signed forward Patrick Kane to a team-friendly deal on the night before the market opened. Then after an underwhelming start on the first day of free agency, which included some low-key acquisitions, the Hall-of-Famer spiced things up by inking Florida Panthers forward and two-time Cup champion Vladimir Tarasenko to a two-year deal worth $4.75 million annually.

Detroit Red Wings’ 50-Goal Club
July 5, 2024 by Tony Wolak
Though the Detroit Red Wings have been around since the 1926-27 season, they’ve only had a few 50-goal scorers don the winged wheel – only six, in fact.
While the NHL underwent a scoring revolution in the 1970s and ’80s, the Red Wings were deep in the midst of their “Dead Wings” era and did not feature many elite players. In addition, the offensive faces of the Original Six-era teams — Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Sid Abel, and Alex Delvecchio—never lit the lamp 50 times in a season at any point in their careers.
