Blackhawks News & Rumors: Foligno, Reichel, Bedard & More
January 21, 2024 by Gail Kauchak
The Chicago Blackhawks have won two of their last three games, which is quite an accomplishment for this depleted team. They head out on a four-game road trip before the All-Star break on a bit of a high note. They’ll also have some reinforcements on this trip, and there’s a few other things to be excited about as well. Let’s get to the latest news and rumors.
Lightning and Blackhawks Could Be Trade Deadline Partners Again
January 19, 2024 by Jim Bay
On March 18, 2022, the Chicago Blackhawks made a Trade-Deadline deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning that sent Brandon Hagel to the Lightning in exchange for forwards Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk, in addition to 2023 and 2024 first-round picks. While the trade did raise a few eyebrows from the Blackhawk faithful, it is a trade that certainly benefited both teams.
Whether in sports or anything else, a good trade usually happens when each side has something the other wants. In the case of the Blackhawks, the Lightning have good players with championship pedigrees that can help them with their lack of depth. The Lightning may want to trade one of these players as they are a team that has some salary cap issues, and the Blackhawks have some draft picks and/or some less expensive players that could be dealt.
Rockford IceHogs at Halfway Mark: Working Toward Playoff Berth
January 18, 2024 by Jim Bay
Nearing the halfway mark of the American Hockey League season, the Rockford IceHogs have managed to put themselves in a position to qualify for the playoffs despite all of the call-ups the Chicago Blackhawks have made. The IceHogs currently sit in third place in the Central Division but are just a few points ahead of the fourth through sixth place teams, which means they will have to continue their consistent play to stay ahead of these teams.
Despite these transactions, the rest of the IceHogs’ roster has stepped up and contributed when they lose players to Chicago.
