Rangers Look to Carry Strong Play Into 2024
January 1, 2024 by Brendan Azoff
When the New York Rangers parted ways with former head coach Gerard Gallant and his staff in May, a clear message was sent that whoever was brought in to coach this group had one goal: to win the Stanley Cup. The man general manager Chris Drury chose to lead his squad was Peter Laviolette. Laviolette, alongside Phil Housley, Michael Peca, and Dan Muse have done a fantastic job changing the team’s culture.
The 2014 Rangers-Lightning Blockbuster That Reshaped Both Franchises
January 1, 2024 by Eugene Helfrick
Heading into the 2014 NHL Trade Deadline, both the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers found themselves in a great position. The Lightning were near the top of the Atlantic Division despite a gruesome early-season injury to superstar Steven Stamkos, whereas the Rangers were considered to be one of the teams to beat in the Eastern Conference with their core of elite talent up and down the ice. At the very least, both teams were expected to be buyers at the deadline, as they would be adding depth for a postseason push.
Despite this positive exterior, they found themselves in a tough position when it came to their captains. While there was a myriad of issues causing this turmoil, the long and short of it was that, despite being in the playoff hunt, the Lightning and Rangers had a disgruntled franchise face that held a lot of value to the team that they didn’t want to lose for nothing.
Filip Chytil’s Latest Injury Raises Questions About Rangers Future
December 31, 2023 by Lucas Standel
With it currently unknown when Filip Chytil will return to the New York Rangers, as he is dealing with yet another concussion in his young career, now seems like a good time to look back at his career so far. He was drafted 21st overall in the 2017 Draft and has scored 64 goals and 144 points in 337 career games. This puts him at 11th overall in terms of points from his draft class. He is also surprisingly, the third longest-tenured Ranger on the team, only behind Chris Kreiderand Mika Zibanejad, as he has played seven seasons for the team. At just 24 years old, he has already played in so many games, he can be considered an NHL veteran. Let’s look back at some of his career highlights and also see what the future may hold for him as a Ranger.
