3 Takeaways from the Golden Knights’ Opening 10 Games
November 2, 2023 by Eric Cruikshank
The Vegas Golden Knights have gotten off to a historically great start to the 2023-24 season. Starting with eight consecutive wins and getting points in each of their opening 10 games, the Stanley Cup champions have taken a six-point lead on the Pacific Division and are one of two teams that have yet to lose in regulation.
These Golden Knights are no strangers to hot starts, with the team going 9-2-0 by Nov. 1 of last season, taking 18 of a possible 22 points. Bruce Cassidy’s teams have also started off nicely in his coaching history, with a combined .743% winning percentage in the opening month of the last seven seasons.
Golden Knights Originals Karlsson & Theodore Driving Hot Start
November 1, 2023 by Ben Fisher
The Vegas Golden Knights’ torrid 9-0-1 start out of the gate has been predicated on scoring balance, defense, and some exceptional goaltending, but that doesn’t mean that individual offensive performances don’t deserve to be highlighted.
Seeing names like Jack Eichel and Chandler Stephenson atop the Golden Knights’ points leaders isn’t surprising, but a team exceeding early expectations demands contributions from unexpected sources. Neither William Karlsson nor Shea Theodore can necessarily be considered unexpected sources, but their top-tier production wasn’t entirely anticipated ahead of the season and has been tantamount to the team’s success. With Vegas surging out to an NHL-best first 10 games, it seems like a good time to give some credit to Karlsson and Theodore, a pair of rather unheralded Originals who have been instrumental in the team’s early success.
7 NHL Teams That Defied Expectations in October

Is it a surprise the Golden Knights are good? Absolutely not, but it is surprising to see them get off to a 9-0-1 start coming off their Stanley Cup victory in June. Maybe it shouldn’t be surprising that they’re on fire to start this season since Reilly Smith was their only notable subtraction this summer. But reigning Cup champions usually don’t get off to the start that the Golden Knights have.
