Oilers Finally Move Into 2nd Place in Pacific with Win Over Kraken
March 3, 2024 by Brian Swane
On Nov. 3, the Edmonton Oilers were 10 points back of second place in the Pacific Division. By Dec. 3, that gap had swelled to 14 points. As of Jan. 3, Edmonton shaved the deficit back down to 10 points, and by Feb. 3, the Oilers were five points out of the No. 2 spot in their division. And now, on Mar. 3, the Oilers finally wake up holding sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division.
Ken Holland’s Patience Could Lead to Big Deadline Move for Oilers
March 2, 2024 by Dale Bochon
It’s fitting that we’re at the beginning of March, and in Alberta, the month of March has come in like a lion with a lot of snow and cold temperatures and will hopefully exit like a lamb. In what could be Ken Holland’s final NHL trade deadline as general manager (GM) with the Edmonton Oilers, you almost get the sense that even though he’s approached the deadline like a lamb he will exit on March 8 like a lion by making a positive impact on the team. He could make a move similar to what he did close to the 2023 Trade Deadline when he picked up Mattias Ekholm from the Nashville Predators.
Oilers Reportedly Interested in Capitals Forward Nic Dowd
March 2, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers have yet to make any trades heading into the deadline, but they will likely become more active in the next week. With Chris Tanev recently getting traded to the Dallas Stars and Ilya Lyubushkin getting dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Oilers will have to look elsewhere for defenders if they’re looking to bolster their blue line. With several big defenders still on the board, including Noah Hanifin, Zach Bogosian, and Joel Edmundson, the Oilers still have the opportunity to pull the trigger on a deal that sees them upgrade their defensive depth. In recent days, though, it seems they have become more connected to forwards and are hoping to add some scoring to their lineup for a postseason run.
Oilers and Golden Knights Competing for Same Deadline Forwards
February 29, 2024 by Jim Parsons
According to Darren Dreger, the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights have emerged as two teams aggressively going after the same forwards at this season’s NHL Trade Deadline. Mentioning in a recent TSN Insider Trading segment that the Oilers and Golden Knights are pursuing names like Tyler Toffoli, Pavel Buchnevich, and Jordan Eberle, both teams are willing to push hard for players they believe will help at that necessary piece for their top six.
Oilers Reportedly Make Big Goaltending Call Pre-Trade Deadline
February 29, 2024 by Jim Parsons
The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly not going after a big goaltender trade at this season’s NHL Trade Deadline. Despite some names being tossed out there in rumors and speculation in the final days before the March 8 deadline, it appears Edmonton is sticking with what they have.
