January 7, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first half of a home-and-home series between the two teams on Saturday (Jan. 6). Former Sharks Noah Gregor and Martin Jones returned to the SAP Center for the only time this season.
The Sharks entered the night looking to end a 10-game losing streak, while the Maple Leafs hoped to sweep their California road trip, having already beaten the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks. The Maple Leafs would be the ones who accomplished their goal, as they walked away with a 4-1 win.
5 San Jose Sharks Who Need to Survive Rebuild
January 6, 2024 by Alex Hutton
Although the San Jose Sharks are going through a rough stretch at the moment, they should still be examining the current season with a wide lens. A number of their players are likely temporary placeholders for players yet to join the Sharks roster, but a handful are showing that they may have a place in San Jose for several seasons to come.

Sharks Lose to Jets 2-1, Losing Streak Hits 10 Games
January 5, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks hosted the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night (Jan. 4) as they looked to end their nine-game losing streak. Mackenzie Blackwood was in between the pipes for the Sharks, while his teammates tried to get the puck past Connor Hellebuyck, who they were facing for the first time this season. It ended up being a goaltending battle, as both Blackwood and Hellebuyck made some incredible saves. Ultimately it ended up being Hellebuyck’s Jets walking away with a 2-1 victory.
Sharks Should Look to Bring Bystedt & Smith to NHL Next Season
January 5, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks have quite a few prospects representing them at the IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC) this year. Included in the seven total players are two of the Sharks’ most recent first-round draft picks. Filip Bystedt was drafted 27th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, while Will Smith was selected fourth overall this past summer. Although they’re in vastly different situations, the Sharks would be wise to bring both of them over to the NHL next season.
Sharks’ Tomas Hertl Named 2024 NHL All-Star
January 4, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks’ representative for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game has been revealed, and it’s none other than Tomas Hertl. He will be representing his team in this manner for the second time in his career, as he’s previously been overshadowed by players like Erik Karlsson, Brent Burns, the currently injured Logan Couture, and quite a few other star players over his tenure in the NHL.

January 4, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks announced today that defenseman Matt Benning has had a successful hip surgery and that he will be out for the remainder of the 2023-24 NHL season, as a result. They noted that they expect him to return for training camp for the 2024-25 season. The 29-year-old defenseman is in his second season in San Jose, but it was cut short after just 14 games.

January 4, 2024 by William Espy
The San Jose Sharks’ All-Star Game representative will be announced in less than 24 hours, and although there’s one name which comes to mind immediately – Tomas Hertl – he’s one of a few players who would be deserving of heading to Toronto next month.
