Hurricanes’ Jarvis Has Earned a Huge Contract Extension
December 6, 2023 by Zach Martin
Coming into the 2023-24 season, the Carolina Hurricanes wondered how year three for their young star Seth Jarvis would play out. The 21-year-old Winnipeg, Manitoba native is in the last year of his entry-level contract (ELC) and will seek an extension. It was unclear how much that contract extension could be worth and for how long. Over the last two seasons, he has put up 40 and 39 points respectively. During his rookie season back in 2021-22, the then-19-year-old proved to the Hurricanes that he belonged on the roster and played 68 games that season. The 2022-23 season saw an uptick in his time on ice and he played in all 82 games.
Seth Jarvis Reflects on Playing His Hometown Jets

Around 30 members of Jarvis’ family attended the game and boyhood buddies — who had to pay their own way — attended as well. Most fans will admit to daydreaming about playing for their hometown teams when they were younger, but it will never be more than a fantasy for more than a few. “I have a lot of buddies that would kill to be in my position, so to be able to share it with them means a lot,” Jarvis told Bally Sports reporter Hanna Yates during the first intermission. “I have a lot of guys who helped me get to where I am. To be able to share that moment with everyone is awesome.”
Hurricanes’ Penalty Kill Has a High-Danger Area Problem
December 6, 2023 by Tommy Bennett
Some teams are built on specific strengths, which are the bread and butter of their success. For the Carolina Hurricanes, that means buying into the system and following head coach Rod Brind’Amour’s blueprint.
The Hurricanes are one of the best teams at five-on-five and are great at controlling the pace of the game. Their finishing ability has improved from last season, and the team is getting production throughout the lineup. However, the other key to success has been special teams. The power play has improved from the 2022-23 season, but the penalty kill has taken a step back. Last season, the Hurricanes boasted the second-ranked unit, but this season is a different story, and for a good reason.
