Sabres Prospect Update: Rousek and Huglen Surging
Meanwhile, some big names have struggled to produce in the past couple weeks.
For many of the Sabres’ prospects, February has been a tough month. Matthew Savoie, Noah Östlund, and Isak Rosén have had particularly tough stretches of hockey. Even for some of the minor pieces, the production just hasn’t been where it needs to be, even resulting in some demotions across the board. With the Sabres’ season dwindling, some of the higher talent in the pipeline is sure to get a look, so for some of these guys, it’s now or never.
With that in mind, let’s get on to the good stuff…
Rochester Americans (AHL)
Isak Rosén and Jiri Kulich have struggled in February, with the former only putting together one goal and one assist in his last eight games. Kulich has been better, totaling one goal and two assists in five games, though the goal was his first AHL tally since December 16th. He was taken out of Friday’s game following an ugly collision that probably should have resulted in a suspension to the aggressor.
Lukas Rousek has continued his stellar play, though, scoring two goals and eight points in his last seven games. He’s been one of very few bright spots for the Americans in the month.
