Blue Jackets’ Johnson and Blankenburg Belong in NHL
November 27, 2023 by William Espy
The Columbus Blue Jackets have quite a bit of depth in nearly all positions at this point in time. We’ve expected a defensive trade for most of the summer and the entirety of the season so far, but it’s yet to come. Two players have suffered as a result, although one at least has had an opportunity in the NHL this season.
Nick Blankenburg has spent the entirety of the season so far with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) while Kent Johnson played eight games with the Blue Jackets before being sent to Cleveland at the beginning of November. Both have proven that they’re NHL-caliber players, and they’re wasting their talent in the AHL.
Blue Jackets’ Robinson on Being Waived & Proving He Belongs
November 26, 2023 by Mark Scheig
The Columbus Blue Jackets were badly in need of a win Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. Mired in an 0-7-2 slump, they would do just about anything to get back in the win column. They turned in one of their best performances of the season.
In the Blue Jackets’ 7-3 win, 12 different players recorded a point. They took care of business against a team lower than them in the standings.
Blue Jackets’ Prospect Jordan Dumais Not a One-Hit Wonder
November 25, 2023 by Nicholas Arnold
The Columbus Blue Jackets’ start to the 2023-24 season has been tumultuous, to say the least. While they’ve finally snapped a franchise-worst nine-game winless streak, they are still in the basement of the standings in the Eastern Conference.
Their top guns Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine aren’t firing, their team defense has been underwhelming, and they continue to struggle to gain traction. During times like these, it’s important to look for bright spots around the organization wherever you can find them.
Blue Jackets’ Merzlikins Leaning on Fun While Regaining His Form
November 25, 2023 by Mark Scheig
It’s been well documented what Elvis Merzlikins has gone through since he joined the Columbus Blue Jackets. From hot-shot rookie to losing his best friend and then going through long stretches of inconsistent play, his NHL career is one that has seen some highs but also the very lowest of lows.
Friday afternoon’s performance in Newark will rank up there as one of Merzlikins’ best performances of the last couple of seasons. It was shades of the hot-shot rookie who looked comfortable from start to finish and helped carry the Blue Jackets to victory.
