Red Wings Prospect Check-In: Soderblom Hitting His Stride & Finnie Earns Contract
Also, being a pest runs in the Draper family
The finish of March saw a few prospects in the Red Wings system see their seasons end, while others have gotten their play going as they look toward the playoffs. Whether it be in the form of some high-profile prospects picking up their games or a couple of lower-profiled ones making waves, there are plenty of players to keep an eye on and pay attention to going forward.
F Elmer Soderblom- Grand Rapids (AHL)
After earning a spot in the opening night lineup last season, big man Elmer Soderblom spent the majority of the year with the Griffins. There were hopes that he could come to training camp and earn his way back onto the Red Wings roster, but that did not happen this season.
Soderblom has had a bit of a down year offensively, but as of late, he has finally been rewarded for his strong play. In seven games in the second half of the month, he tallied four points, including three goals. He has been a presence all year long thanks to his big body and his all-around abilities, and it has been a welcomed sign for him to get his offensive production going. With the Griffins heading toward the playoffs, Soderblom will be a key to the team having success and making a deep run. With any hopes, he will be able to finish the season on a high note and once again possibly push for a roster spot come next season.
G Sebastian Cossa- Grand Rapids (AHL)
Another prospect check-in, another goalie in the Red Wings system who has been solid for their respective team. To say that Sebastian Cossa was been solid for the Griffins throughout the month of March may be an understatement.
