Welcome to the THW Detroit Red Wings post-game report, where we bring an instant reaction, the good and bad from the game, and more from the action that transpired on the ice in tonight’s action against the Boston Bruins.
The Red Wings traveled to Boston to take on one of their Original 6 rivals the Bruins, leaving town with a sour taste in their mouth from a 4-1 loss to Boston.
What good and bad were seen throughout the game though?
Good: Ville Husso
While giving up three goals, Husso’s play in the game tonight against the Bruins was possibly his best game this season. He kept the Red Wings in the game with numerous saves that came from shots in the slot thanks to lapses in the defensive zone by the team in front of him. Having to face a shooter the caliber of David Pastrnak in a penalty shot situation is never a position any goalie wants to be in and not getting a whole lot of help from his defense in their own zone didn’t help matters much, with Charlie McAvoy’s goal in the game coming off a play where he had free range to the net, allowing him to squeak the puck through Husso’s five hole. Overall, Husso played a solid game in net for the Wings tonight given the fact that he did not have a whole lot of help going on in front of him.
