Ducks Surrender Three Third Period Goals in Loss to Oilers
February 10, 2024 by Jordan Reinhardt
The Anaheim Ducks returned from the All-Star break last night against the Edmonton Oilers, who have now won 17 of 18 games after their victory at Honda Center. Though they couldn’t quite hold on in the final frame, the Ducks were ready to play from the opening puck drop and produced one of their most complete games of the season. Let’s recap the game and look at some positive and negative takeaways.
4 Potential Trade Destinations for Ducks’ Adam Henrique
February 9, 2024 by Charlie Hiller
As the NHL’s March 8 trade deadline approaches, we’re taking a look at several players on the Anaheim Ducks that could be on the move. With an 18-30-2 record and 16 points clear of the closest playoff spot, the Ducks are expected to be sellers at the deadline for yet another season. One player likely on the move is Adam Henrique.
Henrique has been with the Ducks since 2017, when Anaheim acquired him from the New Jersey Devils in a midseason trade to bolster their depleted center depth. While the Ducks managed to limp into the 2017-18 postseason, their competitive window slammed shut, and they have failed to make the playoffs every year since. In seven seasons with the Ducks, Henrique has 255 points in 424 games.
7 Ducks’ AHL Call-ups Post-Trade Deadline
February 8, 2024 by Corey Abbott
After the NHL trade deadline on March 8, the Anaheim Ducks may look like a completely different team. Pending unrestricted free agents Adam Henrique, Jakob Silfverberg, Sam Carrick, and Ilya Lyubushkin could be playing for different teams. Other clubs have also expressed interest in Frank Vatrano and John Gibson, both of whom have been mentioned in their fair share of trade rumors this season.
The Ducks have numerous in-house options that could potentially fill any gaps in the roster, rather than relying on receiving players back in trades made by general manager Pat Verbeek before the deadline. Following a poor start to the America Hockey League (AHL) season, the San Diego Gulls have registered a 6-2-2 record in their past 10 outings. The trade deadline will present an opportunity to evaluate some promising players in the NHL while taking advantage of their recent success at the same time.
Ducks’ Statistical Leaders Going into the All-Star Break
February 3, 2024 by Charlie Hiller
The Anaheim Ducks wrapped up their 50th game of the season just before the All-Star Break with an overtime win against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday (Jan. 31). The Ducks (18-30-2) are heading into the break with a modest four-game point streak. They’re still 16 points back of the Western Conference’s final Wild Card spot, but it’s a positive development for a club that will have little to play for in its final 32 games.
Anaheim’s play through 50 games has been defined by injuries, penalties, and inconsistencies. Regardless, there have been some standout performances by several Ducks players. Let’s take a look at some of the team’s statistical leaders heading into the All-Star Break.
Ducks’ Olen Zellweger Shows Promise Amid Reassignment to AHL
February 2, 2024 by Chase Clemens
The Anaheim Ducks reassigned rookie defenseman Olen Zellweger to the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Thursday. The 20-year-old had one assist and a plus-2 rating in his four games with Anaheim. Zellweger was the fifth Ducks defenseman to earn a point in their NHL debut, which was in Anaheim’s 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 23. Although it’s been a small NHL sample size, Zellweger showed why he is one of Anaheim’s top prospects in his first stint in the NHL.
