3 Takeaways from Ducks’ 5-4 Loss to Capitals
December 1, 2023 by Jordan Reinhardt
Well, let’s hope this losing streak builds character, motivation, and some intestinal fortitude because it’s starting to get ugly. Tom Wilson and the Washington Capitals handed the Anaheim Ducks their eighth straight loss last night (Nov. 30). It was yet another close game and the rare high-scoring affair, but the Ducks are coming out on the wrong side of these games, and it has them descending the Western Conference standings in a hurry.
This team fights. They don’t quit. So give them credit. But they take penalties. They commit untimely turnovers. And it’s always a play or two that costs them games. So go the growing pains of a young, rebuilding franchise in the NHL. Let’s look at some positive and negative takeaways from the loss.
Ducks Gameday Preview: Washington Capitals – 11/30/2023
November 30, 2023 by Charlie Hiller
The Anaheim Ducks (9-13-0, 6th in the Pacific Division) are looking to break their free fall tonight (Nov. 30) against the Washington Capitals (10-6-2, 4th in the Metropolitan Division). The Ducks’ loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night (Nov. 28) was their seventh-consecutive and ninth in their last 11 games.
The Capitals will be playing the second leg of a road back-to-back after a gutsy 2-1 win last night against the Los Angeles Kings. They’re an older team, and the Kings made them play the entire 60 minutes last night, so the Ducks should have an advantage as the game goes on.
Anaheim Ducks Logo History
November 30, 2023 by Anthony Ciardelli
Despite that they’ve only been around for 30 years, the Anaheim Ducks sure do like taking a walk down memory lane.
After he spent parts of six seasons with the team, the then-Mighty Ducks brought back Teemu Selanne for the 2005-06 season (and the eight that followed), four years after shipping him to the San Jose Sharks at the 2001 trade deadline.
Former Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle, too, is a retread. He first coached the club for seven seasons after the 2004-05 lockout (a tenure that included winning the 2007 Stanley Cup). He was rehired for 2016-17, guiding the Ducks to the Western Conference Final before being fired again in 2019.
Unsurprisingly, the Anaheim Ducks’ logo history bears the same commitment to nostalgia. What’s that? You prefer to think of it as a lack of imagination? I mean, how can you say a team that ripped off the title of a children’s movie lacks imagination? Especially when they were founded and owned (until 2005) by Disney, a company that tries to sell “platinum” and “remastered” editions of films that have been out for decades? Stop talking nonsense!
Ducks News & Rumors: Gudas, Lyubushkin, Hagg, Sidorov & More
November 29, 2023 by Corey Abbott
The Anaheim Ducks have lost seven straight contests following a hard-fought 3-1 defeat against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday (Nov. 28). The shine of the Duck’s promising 7-4-0 start to the season has faded, but ups and downs should be expected as the team continues to march down the path of what has the makings of a promising rebuild.
For now, the Ducks should be much more concerned with a growing list of injured defensemen as well as the struggles of the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League (AHL). We’ll cover that and other topics in the latest news and rumors roundup.
