Rangers Have Some Questions to Answer at the Halfway Point of the Season
January 22, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch (Premium Substack Content)
The Rangers have been red-hot as we head through the halfway point of the 2023-24 season. They are more than ready to go all-in and make a push for a Stanley Cup this season, but there are some questions still surrounding the team at the halfway point of their campaign.
Why Did the Rangers Pass Over Alex Belzile for NHL Lineup Spot?
January 23, 2024 by Sam Henes
The 2021-22 and 2022-23 iterations of the New York Rangers had good injury luck, with fourth-fewest and fewest man-games lost, respectively. However, this season, following the departure of esteemed trainer Jim Ramsey, there has been a noticeable shift. The team ranks 16th in fewest man-games lost. This has necessitated a greater reliance on the Hartford Wolfpack, the Rangers’ American Hockey League affiliate, to supplement the roster more frequently than in previous seasons.
The Rangers, enjoying a period of relative health with only Filip Chytil sidelined, may yet find themselves tapping into their Hartford reserves. The prime candidate for a call-up? Alex Belzile, the Wolfpack’s top-scoring forward.
Rangers’ Will Cuylle Deserves More Ice Time

The New York Rangers are in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 29-15-2 record but they have lost six of their last nine games and need to make some adjustments. With seven of eight teams in the Division still in the hunt for a playoff spot, they cannot afford to let this become an extended slump.

Rangers’ Vincent Trocheck Added to 2024 NHL All-Star Game
January 22, 2024 by Michael DeRosa
New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will now have a teammate with him at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. This is because the NHL announced today (Jan. 22) that Vincent Trocheck has been added to the All-Star Game because Jack Eichel (Vegas Golden Knights) and Connor Bedard (Chicago Blackhawks) are unable to participate due to injury. Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets) has also been added along with Trocheck.
This will be Trocheck’s second All-Star Game appearance, as he was at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game while as a member of the Florida Panthers. Given how important of a player he has been for the Rangers this season, it is hard to argue against this selection.
