Capitals Defeat Struggling Sharks 3-1 In Tight Battle
The Washington Capitals entered their game against the San Jose Sharks hoping to pick up their fourth win of the season against a team that has yet to win during their 2023-24 campaign. An early lead on a goal from Sharks’ Luke Kunin had the Capitals battling from behind for two periods. It all changed at the beginning of the third period though, when Dylan Strome scored his sixth goal of the season to tie the game up, and it was all Caps from there.
Tom Wilson picked up his second goal of the season with assists from Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson, while Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the empty net goal to seal the deal while Carlson and Ovechkin added assists on that goal as well. Hardy Haman Aktell notched his first NHL point with an assist on the Strome goal, while goaltender Darcy Kuemper stopped 30 of 31 shots to help the Caps past the Sharks.
The Capitals are back in action on Thursday, November 2nd against the New York Islanders.

While they are looking to find more success than last season as they push towards the second Stanley Cup in their franchise’s history, some of the team’s top prospects have started their own 2023-24 season away from the Capitals and have looked quite strong.
