February 13, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
On Feb. 22, the Philadelphia Flyers extended their winning streak to four games, defeating the Arizona Coyotes 5-3. The Flyers, 29-19-6, moved to within one point of second place in the Metropolitan Division and eight points ahead of the closest team for third place. What were some takeaways from the victory?
Philadelphia Flyers’ Top Point Leaders From Every Country
February 13, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
The NHL is one of the best leagues at getting representation from countries across the world — especially in recent years. Over the course of their history, the Philadelphia Flyers have had over a dozen of them have ties to the team. February 11, 2024 by Justin Giampietro (Premium THW Flyers Substack Content)
In this week’s edition of Flyers Flash, we go into depth about the complete turnaround of the Philadelphia Flyers with a sketchy but big 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers, a first-period domination of the Winnipeg Jets that resulted in a 4-1 win, and an all-around great effort against the Seattle Kraken that ended in a 3-2 victory for the Orange and Black.
Also, we discuss why they played so well against the specific matchups they faced, but also caution about their upcoming schedule. Depending on how it goes, they might be in a very favorable spot this time seven days from today.
Revisiting the Flyers’ 2022 Trade Deadline
February 10, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
Being fairly aggressive in the summer before the 2021-22 season, the Philadelphia Flyers did everything they could to return to contender status after missing the playoffs in 2020-21. Injuries and general poor roster construction led to them being one of the worst teams in the NHL despite their efforts to be more competitive, and it forced them to sell at the trade deadline on March 21.
That was just under two calendar years ago, but it’s looking like a massive win for the Flyers overall. What did they trade, who did they get, and how might that help shape their future?
Pros & Cons of Flyers Extending Travis Konecny
February 9, 2024 by Justin Giampietro
While forward Travis Konecny is not set to become an unrestricted free agent until after the 2024-25 season, it’s not too early for the Philadelphia Flyers to think about extending his deal. The soon-to-be 27-year-old has followed up his 31-goal and 30-assist campaign last season (in 60 contests) with 23 goals and 20 assists in 51 games in 2023-24, putting him on pace to lead the Flyers in points for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
