3 Centers That the Rangers Can Trade For
December 29, 2023 by Lucas Standel
As the season continues along, the uncertainty around Filip Chytil continues to grow. He has not played since Nov. 2, 2023, after getting injured in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He is currently out with a concussion, which is believed to be the fourth of his career. While Chytil is skating on his own, it is uncertain when he will return to practice.
The Rangers have two great centers with Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck, but they would rather have someone else than Nick Bonino centering their third line. Bonino is a great fourth-line center, but he is over-exposed in a third-line role. If Chytil continues to be out for the majority of the season, the Rangers will need to consider trading for a third-line center. Here are their potential options.
Rangers Should Stay Away From Steven Stamkos
December 23, 2023 by Lucas Standel
The New York Rangers are going to be in the market for forward depth as the March 8, 2024, Trade Deadline gets closer. One name that has recently surfaced as a potential option is the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Steven Stamkos. He is in the final year of his deal, and as of now, it doesn’t seem set in stone that he will be staying in Tampa after this season. With this and the fact that the Lightning have been struggling for parts of this season, Stamkos’ name has begun to make waves as a name to watch.
While he is still a good player, the Rangers do not need to trade for him. The salary cap, the trade package it would require, and the fact that the Rangers don’t need a left wing or center are reasons why the team should stay away from Stamkos.
