Now, onto the Maple Leafs’ game versus the Predators!
1st Period - Nylander ties Maple Leafs Record
In the last two games, I have written in my post-game recaps that the games carried somewhat of a boring vibe to them. Typically, games against the Predators, Stars, etc. are slow and have no storyline. Well, the only real storyline in this one is the fact that Ryan O’Reilly is playing his first game against Toronto since signing with Nashville in the offseason, and it is still entertaining.
This is the first game since Tampa Bay that we have seen Samsonov between the pipes, and he has looked relatively good. He only let one goal in, and of course, it was O’Reilly. The Maple Leafs as a whole looked good in that period. William Nylander, especially; what else can be said about him? He tied the Maple Leafs’ record for the longest point streak to start the season with eight games. He looks deadly tonight, just as he has all season.
