2024 Memorial Cup: Players & Teams to Watch
May 17, 2024 by Jordan Orth
After all three of the championship series’ ended in sweeps in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), the field is finally set for the 2024 Memorial Cup, which will be held in Saginaw, Michigan. All four teams had stellar seasons so far and have been carried by a handful of high-level prospects and 2024 draft-eligible players.
Devils Can’t Pass on Cole Eiserman at the 2024 NHL Draft
May 16, 2024 by Daniel Amoia
While the New Jersey Devils’ season went significantly worse than expected, there appears to be a silver lining – they have the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. This year’s draft is a deep one. Thankfully, general manager Tom Fitzgerald and co. have built quite a positive reputation, managing to maximize their draft capital to the fullest.
Canadiens’ Prospect Owen Beck Getting Another Shot at the Memorial Cup
May 18, 2024 by Karine Hains
Owen Beck was the first player selected in the second round of the 2022 Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, but we rarely hear about him, unlike Lane Hutson who was selected 29 picks later. Beck is still one of the important prospects of the organization, however, and was a revelation for many in his first development camp, so much so that he was invited to the rookie camp and even to the main camp. His hard work was immediately rewarded when Kent Hughes signed him to an entry-level deal at the start of October 2022. Still, he was sent back to his junior team as there was room to grow in the Ontario Hockey League.
Sharks Need a Defenseman with 14th Pick in 2024 NHL Draft
May 19, 2024 by Alex Hutton
Over the next five weeks, the San Jose Sharks will have plenty of decisions to make when it comes to their picks at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. A few will likely be very easy, such as taking Macklin Celebrini first overall. But the majority will be much more difficult, and those tough decisions will begin with their other first-round pick, the 14th selection. But given the players available to them, and the current state of the roster and farm system, they would be best served to use that pick to improve their blue line. Given the likelihood of taking a forward with the first pick, going in the other direction can help them round out their lineup. There are a number of ways to go about finding the right defenseman, and choosing the right path will make the Sharks a more balanced team for the future.

Easton Cowan Should Crack Maple Leafs’ Lineup in 2024-25
May 20, 2024 by Andrew Forbes
After another disappointing first-round loss in yet another Game 7 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team’s front office has vowed to make changes to the roster they iced this past season. Rumours have swirled around star forward Mitch Marner and his future with the organization and with the Maple Leafs caught in a tangled web of cap complications, it only seems logical to move one of their big-money players with the team not getting it done come playoff time.
Pittsburgh Penguins’ 2024 NHL Draft Needs
May 21, 2024 by Jordan Orth
While the Pittsburgh Penguins were unable to see the ping-pong balls bounce their way in the 2024 Draft Lottery (they had a very slight chance of hanging onto their pick), they do have two second-round picks in their asset chest to use. With the group of players that they both have currently on their NHL roster and in their pipeline, there are plenty of areas of need for general manager Kyle Dubas and the organization to target heading into the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Lightning Can Succeed With Stockpile of Late-Round Draft Picks
May 21, 2024 by Harrison Smajovits
The Lightning made the moves necessary to win back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021 and keep the championship window open. They shouldn’t regret most of their moves. When you win it all, you make those moves again every single time. However, it eventually catches up with you. This year, at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Lightning have five picks, but none until the fifth round.
