Oilers Need to Prepare All-In Trade Package for Jake Guentzel
February 13, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers have had one of the most interesting campaigns this season. They started their 2023-24 campaign with a 3-9-1 record which led to them firing Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson and replacing them with Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey. It also led to the American Hockey League (AHL) demotion of goaltender Jack Campbell who was replaced by Calvin Pickard. Now that the Oilers have bounced back in a big way — having recently gone on a 16-game winning streak which was snapped by the Vegas Golden Knights— they will likely look to go all-in at the 2024 Trade Deadline and bring in some assets to bolster their roster heading into the postseason. One player they could look at is a Pittsburgh Penguins forward who hasn’t been given a contract extension yet, leading to trade rumours.Â
Permanently Solving the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Biggest Issues
February 22, 2024 by Sylvie McCarthy
With February halfway over, the Pittsburgh Penguins are dangerously close to missing the postseason…again. When president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas took over last June, he made a lot of changes that were supposed to set the team up for success. However, the roster is just as bad, if not worse, as last season, and frustration levels seem to be at an all-time high. The Penguins have recently scrambled their lines and defensive pairings in a desperate attempt to get back on track, but will that be enough to fix their many problems?
Oilers Should Pursue Guentzel & Tanev Trades at Trade Deadline
February 21, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers should be planning to go all-in for a Stanley Cup this season, and there are plenty of options available to them to give them the best chance of winning it all. Two of the biggest names heading into the trade deadline are targets the Oilers should have in mind as they would give them a great opportunity to win. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel and Calgary Flames’ defender Chris Tanev are two of the most sought-after players heading into the 2024 Trade Deadline, and the Oilers have an opportunity to make a deal for both of them. While it will be a bidding war, as several teams will be interested in both Guentzel and Tanev, the Oilers should be all over them.
