In today’s NHL rumors rundown, why is it taking so long for some teams to jump into the NHL trade market? What are they waiting for? Meanwhile, things are intensifying in Pittsburgh where it is expected the Penguins will make moves and are talking about a contract extension for Sidney Crosby. The Philadelphia Flyers are getting calls about Nick Seeler and Sean Walker as a defensive pair. Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Bertuzzi, Marner, Samsonov & Woll

The Toronto Maple Leafs faced a tough challenge against the Colorado Avalanche. They fell behind 2-0 early in the game; however, they didn’t quit and rallied back to score three straight goals to go ahead 3-2. Late in the third period, the Avalanche tied the game 3-3. Just a couple of minutes later, in a crucial moment on the power play, Tyler Bertuzzi stepped up to score his third goal of the game. It was the goal that propelled the Maple Leafs to a 4-3 lead. They held on tight and finished with the win.

Last night’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Arizona Coyotes ended in a 6-3 victory for the Maple Leafs. The game began with the Maple Leafs taking an early lead, piling up a 3-0 advantage by the end of the first period. However, Arizona quickly responded in the second period with two goals, narrowing the gap to just one goal.

The Philadelphia Flyers are sitting at a 30-20-7 record and third place in the Metropolitan Division, trying to cement their spot as a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. That was aided on Feb. 22 with a regulation loss for the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders but hurt with wins for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. Three teams below their 67-point mark are sitting at 60 points in their division, with none of them having more than two games in hand. At this point, it’s the Flyers’ spot to lose — staying at third place in the Metropolitan Division guarantees they make the postseason.
