It seems like the Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling with the same problems all season and one of their biggest problems continues to be the power play. The Penguins’ power play currently ranks 30th in the NHL, and it is largely to blame for why they have fallen to seventh place in the Metro.
This issue has been extremely frustrating for many reasons with the biggest one being the amount of talent they have on the power play. Their top unit includes Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel among others so why have they only scored 23 power-play goals this season?
What do the Penguins Need to Change?
The Penguins have reconfigured the power play about a thousand times at this point to try and give it a spark, but so far nothing has worked. Is the answer to relieve power play coordinator and associate coach Todd Reirden of his special teams duties and bring in fresh personnel? Or is it finally time for them to take a closer look at their system?
