Penguins Already Starting To Make Offseason Moves
Can Pittsburgh return to the playoffs next season?
The Pittsburgh Penguins have a long list of offseason to-do’s. One of the many questions they have to answer this summer is what to do with all their restricted free agents.
Some of these young players stepped up at the end of the season and made a serious case for why they should return in 2024-25. Here is a look at some of the players the Penguins may be looking at bringing back.
P.O. Joseph
At the start of the season, defenseman P.O. Joseph was not playing great hockey. It looked like he was going to be another disappointment — but in the last six weeks of the year he seemed to turn a corner. He was playing really well in his own zone and was driving the puck on offense more than normal. It is also clear that he has worked on his shot and has really started coming into his own.
So, the question is, should the Penguins bring Joseph back in 2024-25? The answer is yes. As the season progressed, he turned into a top-four defensemen, often playing with Kris Letang on the top pairing. Letang is not the easiest to play with and Joseph not only showed good chemistry with him, but he finally started to look comfortable in his role.
