Paul Kariya – The Original Mighty Duck
Paul Kariya was a young phenom, the face of a young franchise. He was given lofty expectations and broke into the league around the same time as two other comparable Hall of Fame players, Pavel Bure and Eric Lindros. He was a solid all-around player and a statesman for the sport of hockey.
His career was marred by concussions and without meaning to, he’s been connected with the awareness of concussions and post-concussion syndrome from hockey ever since his retirement.
Today in Hockey History: Oct. 15
The greatest player in the history of the National Hockey League took his place at the top of the scoring list on this date. Best NHL Goalies of the 1990s
The 1990s was an amazing decade of growth and excitement for the National Hockey League. With the European influence on the game leading to a faster, more wide-open style of play, the goaltenders had to make plenty of adjustments. The decade had no shortage of great netminders, including some of the greatest to ever play the position.
Today in Hockey History: Oct. 14
Oct. 14 is a very important date in NHL history as its greatest player lit the lamp for the first time. Also, three expansion teams found the win column for the first time, and plenty of personal milestones were reached by both players and coaches. The THW time machine is fired up and ready to take us back through the decades to relive all the best memories.

Only one team can win, and for teams that come close and ultimately lose, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever get the opportunity again. It’s a fickle endeavor, but it’s one that fans of the sport love. Here now are the many NHL teams that have never won the Stanley Cup.
