Panthers Steamroll Bruins to Even Second-Round Series
May 8, 2024 by Jim Bay
The Florida Panthers avenged their lopsided loss in Game 1 by defeating the Boston Bruins 6-1 on Wednesday (May 6) to even their second-round playoff series at one game apiece. The Panthers looked to atone for their poor performance in Game 1 with great energy and recorded 76 hits, the most of any team in the playoffs thus far.
Panthers Cannot Allow Week-Long Break to Ruin Series
May 8, 2024 by Joey Ganzi
The Florida Panthers entered the second round facing a familiar foe after taking down the Tampa Bay Lightning by a series score of 4-1. That foe is the Boston Bruins, a team they defeated in seven games last postseason after being down 3-1 in the series.
Unfortunately, the Bruins remember that playoff series all too well and they beat Florida in Game 1 by a score of 5-1. With the Panthers not playing for a week, and the Bs playing just 48 hours before that game, momentum was on Boston’s side and it caught the Panthers by surprise. If Florida wants to win this series, they have to shake off the rust as soon as possible.
Bruins Overwhelm Panthers in Game 1 of Second-Round Matchup
May 6, 2024 by Jim Bay
The Boston Bruins jumped out to a 1-0 series lead against the Florida Panthers by stealing a 5-1 victory against the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of their second-round series.
The Bruins continued their 2023-24 dominance against the Panthers, as they swept the 2023-24 regular-season series against the Panthers (BOS: 4-0-0, FLA: 0-2-2). It’s the sixth time in franchise history that Boston has done so, following 2013-14 (5-0-0), 2016-17 (5-0-0), 2010-11 (4-0-0), 2001-02 (4-0-0) and 2012-13 (3-0-0).
Bruins vs. Panthers: The Playoff Rematch the NHL Needed
May 6, 2024 by Mike Fink
In the final minute of regulation, the TD Garden crowd was buzzing, sensing a series victory with the net empty and the home team holding a 3-2 lead. That’s when the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Boston Bruins were stunned. The Florida Panthers, who only snuck into the playoffs by a point, tied the game with a Brandon Montour blast to force overtime. It only got worse from there for the Bruins as the Panthers scored the game-winner off a quick shot from Carter Verhaeghe to pull off the series upset.
Panthers Should Be the Favorites in Playoff Rematch vs. Bruins
May 6, 2024 by Alex Chauvancy
The Florida Panthers made a statement in their Round 1 series by defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games. It won’t get easier for the defending Eastern Conference champions in the second round. But they still appear to be the favorites over a Boston Bruins team coming off a hard-fought seven-game series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Boston Bruins vs Florida Panthers Round 2 Preview
May 5, 2024 by Tommy Bennett
The Boston Bruins did not make history by becoming the first team to blow a 3-1 series lead in back-to-back years. Instead, they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime (2-1) and advanced to the second round. There are certain players they can thank for this, and one of them is David Pastrnak. After being called out after Game 6 by his head coach, Jim Montgomery, he responded in a big way by scoring the game-winning goal.
Barkov, Matthews, and Staal Named Selke Trophy Finalists
May 5, 2024 by Kyle Gipe
On Sunday, May 5, the NHL and the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PWHA) announced the finalists for the 2024 Selke Trophy. The Selke Trophy is annually awarded “to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.” This year’s finalists are Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Jordan Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Panthers Have Built an Electric Playoff Atmosphere
May 3, 2024 by Joey Ganzi
The Florida Panthers have taken down their in-state rival in the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 4-1 after winning Game 5 6-1. On Tuesday night, they sent the series to Tampa with a 2-0 lead thanks to an overtime game-winning goal scored by forward Carter Verhaeghe, who is currently the franchise leader in game-winning goals scored in the playoffs.
But there has been something significant over the past few seasons when it comes to these types of moments. Because of that goal, Florida has now won 11 straight overtime playoff games, and it all started from playing in these situations over the years. With playoff experience, they’ve become acclimated to the atmosphere.
