Warren Foegele scored twice for the Oilers, who also got goals from Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Evander Kane, Brett Kulak and Ryan McLeod. Edmonton netminder Calvin Pickard made 28 saves to win his second straight start. Anaheim’s goals were scored by Max Jones and Frank Vatrano. Ducks goalie John Gibson faced 39 shots, stopping 32. Oilers 2023-24 Trade Targets: Mackenzie Blackwood

January 2, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch

The Edmonton Oilers have had some serious issues during the 2023-24 season and it has led to them being near the middle of the Pacific Division standings when they were expected to be near the top before the season began. Some rough goaltending, a lack of focus on defensive play, and no scoring from depth forwards had the Oilers near the bottom of the entire league in the standings but luckily, they have begun climbing their way back up. The team chose to change up their coaching staff and send down who should have been their starting goaltender, so it has been a roller coaster of a start.

Is Mackenzie Blackwood an Option?

NHL Insider Links Penguins’ Jake Guentzel as Ideal Fit for Oilers

January 2, 2024 by Jim Parsons

It’s not something that the Pittsburgh Penguins are likely considering now. It’s also not something the Edmonton Oilers can currently afford. Still, one NHL insider has linked Jake Guentzel to the Oilers in an “ideal” trade deadline deal should the Penguins look to sell and the Oilers feel the need to fill a potential void.

3 Unexpected Oilers That Have Stepped It Up Heading Into 2024

January 1, 2024 by Jim Parsons

The Edmonton Oilers are rolling. The hottest team in the NHL in 2024, they’ve gone on an eight-game winning streak, lost three, and have now won five in a row. Part of the success of the team has come from players who started the 2023-24 season by struggling badly. Whether it was a coaching change, renewed motivation, or better health, players have found another gear.

Understanding that players like Connor McDavid were never going to stay “cold” all year, we’ll exclude him from our list of unexpected Oilers who have stepped it up in recent weeks. No, this list will focus on members of the roster who have either done a complete 180 degree turn, or are doing more than starting to contribute… they are getting hot at just the right time.

Oilers’ Brown Lacks Results Despite Strong Stretch of Games

January 1, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch

The Edmonton Oilers weren’t incredibly busy during last off-season which worried some fans into thinking they weren’t serious about contending and going all-in. Despite fans choosing to trust in management and hope the players could build off a strong 2022-23 campaign, the team’s biggest move was one they have grown to regret. They chose to sign forward Connor Brown to one of the most interestingly structured contracts the team has ever signed. With a $775,000 cap hit this season, he would earn a $3.25 million bonus after ten games which would count against the Oilers’ cap in the 2024-25 season.

Oilers vs Flyers Pre-Game

Tonight's clash features the Philadelphia Flyers (19-12-4-1) facing off against the Edmonton Oilers (18-15-1) in an inter-conference showdown. The Flyers aim to rebound from a 4-3 road loss to the Flames on Sunday, concluding a challenging five-game road trip. Despite the recent setback, Philadelphia has exceeded expectations this season, securing a 4-1 road victory against the Canucks and earning a point in a 2-1 overtime road loss to the Kraken.

The Oilers are rolling with five-straight wins.
