July 29, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers start their 2024-25 campaign on Oct 9, 2024, against the Winnipeg Jets, and are looking to have another successful season in hopes of making another deep playoff run. With some interesting moves this offseason that bolster the team’s forward group, there are still some questions that need answering before they drop the puck on the new season. In this new series and the first edition of the Oilers’ mailbag, we will dive into a few things that have been surrounding the team for the past few weeks.
Expectations for New Oiler Forward Jeff Skinner
July 28, 2024 by Michael Ostrower
Following his buyout from the Buffalo Sabres, the Edmonton Oilers signed Jeff Skinner to a one-year deal worth $3 million. The deal comes in well below what he could have received elsewhere due to his desire to contend for a Stanley Cup. The 32-year-old is a veteran of 1,006 NHL games. He has 357 goals and 670 points. He has yet to make the playoffs in his 14-year career.

Oilers Almost Traded Future MVP for Cody Ceci in 2016
July 29, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers are in a comfortable position heading into the 2024-25 season coming off of a Stanley Cup Final run, and making moves that should solidify them as contenders have fans excited for what they can accomplish this season. With Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson joining the team in free agency to bolster the Oilers’ forward group as well as bringing back key depth pieces in Connor Brown, Mattias Janmark, and Corey Perry, the team is set up for success and should be able to make another deep playoff run this season.
Leon Draisaitl Reportedly Wants 7-8 Year Extension With Oilers
July 30, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Edmonton Oilers had one of the most interesting 2023-24 campaigns. They started the season 2-9-1 and chose to relieve Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson of their duties, replacing them with Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey. Eventually, they turned it around and were able to make a deep playoff run that brought them one game away from winning the Stanley Cup. On top of all that, one of their superstar forwards is soon to be in need of a new contract, and he is already eligible to sign an extension as of July 1.
