On Tuesday (March 19) at Rogers Place, forward Leon Draisaitl scored in overtime to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens. Adam Henrique and Connor McDavid also scored for the Oilers, who got a 23-save effort from goaltender Calvin Pickard to sweep their season series with the Habs.
Oilers Have Effective 2nd Line With Draisaitl, Foegele, and McLeod

The Edmonton Oilers have kept their top line of Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins together for most of the season. However, they have frequently experimented with the second line, typically centred by Leon Draisaitl. Out of all the wingers featured alongside Draisaitl this season, none have been a more unlikely duo than Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele.

The Edmonton Oilers have chosen to go all-in this season and hope they can win their first Stanley Cup since 1990, and their sixth in franchise history. With the acquisitions of Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick, and Troy Stetcher at the 2024 Trade Deadline, they filled the holes they had throughout their lineup and now have a strong team heading into the postseason. They also didn’t need to move anyone off their current roster to bring these players in, which was another huge bonus and should help them down the stretch. One player who could become a cap casualty in the offseason so that they can have some more flexibility though, is forward Evander Kane.
