December 9, 2023 by Alex Chauvancy
Before the season began, I wrote about potential Stanley Cup contenders in each conference. While the standings haven’t flipped upside down regarding Cup contenders, there have been some changes from the preseason. Oilers’ Holland Has Plans Laid Out for Campbell & Broberg
December 8, 2023 by Rob Couch
Recently, the Edmonton Oilers demoted two significant players to the American Hockey League (AHL). The first was Jack Campbell who kickstarted the change in Edmonton after a horrible start to the season. More recently (Dec. 7), the Oilers finally sent Philip Broberg to the AHL to play more minutes and reduce his time in the press box. One move has worked out, as the Oilers have had great goaltending from Stuart Skinner, and Campbell has started to find his game a bit, while the hope is that only good things can come from being patient with Broberg until he can get a legitimate opportunity.
Oilers’ Lavoie Can Grow Game With Expanded Role in AHL
December 8, 2023 by Sean Panganiban
Edmonton Oilers forward prospect Raphael Lavoie didn’t exactly light up the preseason last September, but he certainly made enough noise by scoring a couple of goals and showing off his hard shot for some of the Oilers’ fan base to cause a stir when he didn’t make the big club and was sent down to the American Hockey League (AHL).
In Lavoie’s short time in the NHL, he averaged only 7:36 a game and was sent back down to the Bakersfield Condors on Nov. 14. It was the right move because he needed to play more and since then he’s climbed to the top of team scoring with nine points. On top of that, it was revealed recently that the Oilers’ prospect requested a bigger role on the team, which could ultimately help his chances of becoming an NHL regular one day.
