Minnesota Wild New Year Resolutions 2024
January 2, 2024 by Mariah Stark (Holland)
It’s time to start talking about New Year’s resolutions as Christmas has come and gone. The Minnesota Wild have found a way to grab some wins, but there’s always room to improve, and that’s where resolutions come into play.
Some take them quite seriously, while others are still trying to write down the right number for the year. I tend to be the latter, but once in a while, I find a goal to reach for in the New Year. In this piece, we’ll break down the team and see what resolution each player should try to achieve in 2024, starting with the goaltenders.
Wild’s Fleury Hits Milestone With Game 1,000
January 1, 2024 by Mariah Stark (Holland)
Ten or so years ago, if you had told Minnesota Wild fans they would have Marc-André Fleury as a goaltender in 2023, they probably would’ve laughed and said, “Yeah, right.” However, in 2023 they not only had Fleury as a goaltender, but he also played the 1,000th game of his career while wearing their jersey.
It may have been a disappointing loss, but it was still a very historic day, as he is just the fourth goaltender in NHL history to accomplish such a feat. There is so much more to this 21-year career. This article will briefly examine his star-studded career, why he’s so great at what he does, and what he’s brought to the Wild.
Pat Maroon Fitting Into Wild’s Lineup Better Than Expected
December 30, 2023 by Mariah Stark (Holland)
After the recent firing of Dean Evason and the hiring of John Hynes, the Minnesota Wild have finally won some games. They’re even starting to get production from some struggling players like Matt Boldy and Frédérick Gaudreau, and even goaltender Filip Gustavsson is starting to shine. Several players have kept up their consistency, like Joel Eriksson Ek, Marco Rossi, and Mats Zuccarello, but there’s one player on this list who’s been playing consistently without getting as much attention.
That player is Pat Maroon, who was added during the offseason in hopes he would fill some of the physical and vocal void left by Matt Dumba. While it wasn’t evident at first, in the last few weeks, Maroon has really shown how valuable he is to the lineup. This article will examine several specific ways Maroon has contributed to the roster.
Minnesota Wild Roundtable: Christmas 2023
December 25, 2023 by Mariah Stark (Holland)
With the holidays here and everything that has gone on with the Minnesota Wild in the past month since the firing of Dean Evason and the hiring of John Hynes as well as the team’s complete turnaround of their season, it’s time for another roundtable.
The Hockey Writers Wild Team of Tyson McKay and Mariah Stark answered the questions that you’ve been wondering about in the past month, from the coaching change to who’s stepped up and what’s going on this holiday break. We’ll start with the coaching change since that’s been the most significant piece of news and move on from there.
