Canadiens Have 2 New Potential Suitors for Allen & Primeau
December 18, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
The Montreal Canadiens are one of the main teams to watch closely in the trade market, especially as we inch closer to the deadline. Although they have had a decent start to the 2023-24 season, they are very much rebuilding and have won just four out of their last 10 games. Because of this, they are set to be sellers this season, and they have an array of trade candidates.
Their two biggest trade candidates as we get closer to the deadline are Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau. The Canadiens have been running a three-goalie system all season, but that is very likely to change before the deadline passes.
When looking at some of the recent news around the NHL, it is clear that two new teams are emerging as potential trading partners for the Canadiens. Let’s dive into each team and why this is the case now.
Likeliest Canadiens to Next Break Out of Slumps in 2023-24
December 18, 2023 by Ryan Szporer
It could be a coincidence Josh Anderson, Cole Caufield and Christian Dvorak all scored against the New York Islanders on Dec. 16. It could also be that they were all due, with Caufield last getting on the board on Nov. 29, 2023, Dvorak on Nov. 7 and Anderson last scoring (a non-empty-net goal) on March 14 of last season.
Granted, it was only an empty-net goal for Dvorak, but beggars can’t be choosers, including good-news-starved Canadiens fans. And, with the Habs largely failing to take advantage of an especially easy portion of their schedule leading into the holidays, the three above Habs aren’t exactly the only ones who have been struggling. Here are the likeliest ones to next break out of their slumps:
Canadiens Prospects Poised to Excel at 2024 WJC
December 17, 2023 by Blain Potvin
The Montreal Canadiens have a very deep prospect pool, arguably one of the best in the NHL as well. Having four prospects likely to go to the World Junior Championships (WJC), which will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, speaks volumes about the skill available to the team in the coming years.
Because almost every one of these prospects is returning to the tournament, Montreal is in a unique position. They will be able to gauge their developmental progress by comparing their level of play against the best players in their age groups from last year’s tournament to this year’s.
