Nashville Predators Top 10 Goals of December: Trenin's Hand-Eye & Tomasino's Nifty Mitts
Who doesn't love living in the past?
The holiday season is in full swing, Christmas is around the corner, and Nashville Predators hockey will be on hiatus for a few days following their Dec. 23 tussle with the Dallas Stars. So, there's no jollier time than now to celebrate Nashville hockey's best goals scored before the break.
Before we begin, remember that this is just one person's opinion, and if you leave any negative comments, you might end up on Santa's naughty list.

#10 - Glass Gets His First
Is this a sensational, jaw-dropping goal?
No.
Did this goal come at the end of a miserable loss on home ice with fans headed for the doors?
Yes.
But is this a player’s first goal after struggling with upper and lower-body injuries all season?
Absolutely.
Cody Glass scored his first of the season at the end of a brutal 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. While the goal does feature a nice pass from Cole Smith, it’s high placement is primarily to highlight the 24-year-old, whose lousy luck has limited him to just 14 games this season.
Here’s to more from Glasser.

#9 - ‘Big Sexy’ Nets a Nice One
Michael McCarron might have the best nickname in hockey. The moniker ‘Big Sexy,’ given by former teammate Matt Benning, stuck with the hulking, 6-foot-6 forward.
While his playing style is anything but, he did score a nice goal against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 12. Kicking the puck to his skate off a slapshot from Luke Schenn and roofing it past Samuel Ersson is no easy task, making it deserving of ninth on the list.

#8 - Lauzon Rips One Past DeSmith
Jeremy Lauzon has two goals in December—both have come from the left hash marks, both have beaten the netminder blocker side, and both were off a slick pass from Pretty Boy Vincenzo, but only this snipe made the list.
Lauzon tends to score when the Predators need him to. While the goal was in a losing effort, the pass and shot were beautiful.

#7 - Sissons’ Shorthanded Marker
Colton Sissons' scoring splits are shocking.
He has five goals at even strength, two on the power play, and three shorthanded through 33 games. Ten goals in the NHL alone is no mark to scoff at, but three on the penalty kill is something else.
Sissons' three tallies has him tied for second league-wide and just two behind New York Islanders sophomore Simon Holmström.
Overall, he's five goals away from matching his career-high of 15; with 49 games remaining, I say he breaks it by game 49.
Enjoy Sissons' shorthanded goal and seventh of the season at number seven on the list.

#6 - Josi Goes Post-And-In
Roman Josi is slowly creeping up to ten goals on the season, and with a shot like this, it's surprising he hasn't hit double digits yet.
The captain knows how to run a power play. However, his ability to casually skate to the top of the circle, turn a Norris Trophy winner into a pylon with a hockey stick and snipe it past Igor Shesterkin is sensational.
Oh, and that *clink* is music to any hockey fan's ears.

#5 - Josi Takes the Dog for a Walk
These two consecutive goals from Roman Josi highlight his patience with the puck and hockey IQ.
While the former saw what Josi could do with traffic in front, the latter displayed his skating, speed, and puck-guarding ability.

#4- Forsberg Wins it in Philadelphia
I bet you were wondering when Filip Forsberg would pop up on this list.
The Swedish phenom is scoring a hair under a 41-goal pace and dominating overtime periods.
Sure, his OT winner versus the Flyers is a little grimier than one would expect for number four on a top ten goals list, but beating all three defenders to the loose puck to tap it into the yawing cage deserves recognition.

#3 - Forsberg Does It Again
Two consecutive Filip Forsberg goals, featuring two overtime winners, which he happened to score in two straight games.

#2 - Trenin’s Hand-Eye Masterpiece
The Yak, Yak Attack, TRENDAWG, or simply Yakov Trenin—whichever name you call him is up to you.
It makes sense to find Trenin, a 6-foot-2, 201-pound forward, crashing the crease, being a nuisance net front and crashing the boards in celebration following a goal.
With so much time screening goalies, he’s developed extraordinary hand-eye coordination and flashed it off against the Washington Capitals on Dec. 16.
The big man’s one-hand tap-in showcases the type of finesse one expects from Sydney Crosby, making his goal deserving of silver on the countdown.

#1- Tomasino’s Magic Hands
Ew.
Philip Tomasino had an up-and-down season last year, bouncing between the NHL and American Hockey League (AHL). Through 25 games in 2023-24, Tomasino has four goals, nine assists for 13 points, and arguably the best Predators marker of the season.
A one-handed chip pass from Cole Smith sprung Tomasino on a breakaway, and he didn’t disappoint.
Tomasino has the potential to be a top-six forward on the Predators, but right now, one thing is undeniable: he sure knows how to put on a show.
