The NHL is full of interesting dynamics. Among the most important is the relationship between coach and player. It isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, and this season, there have been a few examples where the road has been somewhat bumpy.
In Philadelphia, a lot is going on between Rick Tocchet and Matvei Michkov. In Toronto, the relationship between Craig Berube and Auston Matthews is at a point where the head coach is on the hot seat. In Edmonton, Kris Knoblauch has finally scratched a player he’s been trying to reach for more than 20 games.

Tocchet finally snapped when talking to the media this week, all over the constant questions surrounding his relationship with the Flyers’ budding superstar. Tocchet is new to the Flyers this year, and he isn’t the first coach to realize that reaching Michkov is a challenge.
