Morgan Rielly Suspended 5 Games for Cross-Checking
February 13, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly has been suspended for five games for his cross-check to the head of Ottawa Senators‘ forward Ridly Greig. The ruling of five games is significant because, for anything under five games, Rielly can only appeal to Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Rielly, Liljegren, Lajoie & Kampf
February 13, 2024 by The Old Prof
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to get back into the win column tonight when they face the St. Louis Blues. However, the Blues are on a hot streak, winning seven of their last eight games, including a dominant 7-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday. Torey Krug had a record-setting performance with five assists against the Canadiens, the most by a defenseman in Blues history. Forward Robert Thomas also had a standout game with a goal and three assists.
2 Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs’ T.J. Brodie
February 13, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
The Toronto Maple Leafs are in a unique situation; they are right in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, but they also aren’t as good as they were last season, when they essentially had a playoff spot locked up in January. This means that their approach to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline will be different. Last season, they went all-in and acquired Luke Schenn and Ryan O’Reilly, among others, to improve their chances of winning the Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, it didn’t work; although they finally won a playoff series, defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, they were bounced in the second by the Florida Panthers.
Predicting Maple Leafs’ Expiring RFA Defencemen’s Next Contracts
February 13, 2024 by JP Gambatese
Once the 2023-24 season ends, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have three expiring restricted free agents (RFAs) on defence who they will either have to extend to another contract or let go from the organization: Timothy Liljegren, Simon Benoit, and Maxime Lajoie. If we assume that none of them are traded by next season, which is likely, it’s important to gauge what their next contracts could look like, especially when considering that the Maple Leafs will be in a bit of a cap crunch in 2024-25 by proxy of Auston Matthews’ and William Nylander’s raises kicking in.
Maple Leafs: Reaves Defends Reilly’s Reaction to Ridly Greig
February 12, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
If you haven’t seen it yet or heard the news, Morgan Reilly is expected to be suspended for more than five games after what he did to Ridly Greig, following an unwritten rule the forward broke at the end of the matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. The unwritten rule that has fans split is that Greig decided to take a slap shot into an empty net to give the Senators a 5-3 lead, rather than just tap the puck in, which Reilly took exception to and cross-checked Greig directly in the face, leading to an in-person hearing scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 13)
