Wild’s Special Teams Failing in Final Push for the Postseason

It’s a well-known fact in the NHL that goaltending and special teams often win games, especially the grindy matchups that play out in the postseason. But the Minnesota Wild — despite sitting just three points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference — have struggled to find consistency in both goaltending and special teams.
Wild’s Lack of Spark & Defense Cost Them in Loss to Kings

The Minnesota Wild had a quick back-to-back California road trip against the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Their first game against the Ducks didn’t open with the fastest of starts, but in the second period, the Wild got things rolling and didn’t stop. They took the 4-0 win and looked to get another victory when they took on the Kings the next night, March 20.
Wild’s Fourth Line Adjusting Since Trade Deadline

With the NHL trade deadline past for over a week now, players are starting to settle into their new surroundings and adapt to new systems and teammates. The Minnesota Wild weren’t so much buyers but sellers this season, and while it was assumed they’d let go of at least one player, it was a little surprising to see the entire fourth line go.
