Minnesota Wild Face Trading Marco Rossi Dilemma

After this disastrous season for the Minnesota Wild, there’s been a lot of talk about who should stay and who should go. The most recent story I’ve heard regards Marco Rossi and how the Wild should consider trading him. He’s played 103 games total, about one and a quarter seasons and has 21 goals plus 20 assists for 41 points with 40 of those coming this past season.

With those numbers in that many games, it’s understandable why some would be considering trading him. However it’s important to remember he’s only 22 years old and will be 23 when the season starts. He hasn’t had much time to show what he’s truly capable of and after a rough start to his NHL career. I’ll be honest, I’m not convinced either way, to trade him or not.

Obviously for the Wild to give up Rossi it would have to be the perfect return otherwise a young player who should have a lot more potential, they’ll want to keep him. He has one more year left on his contract so they do have time to decide but like in the Athletic article I read recently, there are young prospects coming up right behind Rossi who need to play.
