Maple Leafs Need Chris Tanev, But He Won’t Be Cheap
December 1, 2023 by The Old Prof
I remember Chris Tanev‘s years with the Vancouver Canucks very well. He was the kind of player who, in the heat of a crucial game, would fearlessly step in front of a blistering slap shot, sacrificing his body to block the puck and prevent a scoring opportunity for the opposing team. These are the kinds of selfless acts that exemplify Tanev’s unwavering dedication to his team’s success and his willingness to go to any lengths to win a game for his team.
Since Tanev has been in the NHL, he’s been known for his commitment to the defensive aspect of the game. He’s the kind of player who embraces high-pressure situations, putting himself on the line to make pivotal shot blocks. In doing so, he’s earned the respect of his teammates, fans, and his defensive peers across the NHL. In these nightly actions of sacrifice, Tanev’s value as a player has been embodied.
3 Takeaways From Maple Leafs’ 4-3 Shootout Win Over the Kraken
December 1, 2023 by Michael DeRosa
After ending their previous two-game losing streak by defeating the Florida Panthers on Nov. 28, the Toronto Maple Leafs looked to keep the wins coming in their Nov. 30 matchup against the Seattle Kraken. In the end, they did just that, beating the NHL’s youngest franchise by a 4-3 final score in the shootout. While Toronto blew a 3-1 lead in the third period, it did not come back to bite them, as they secured two points through the shootout. Let’s now discuss three takeaways from the game.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Marner, Matthews, Woll & Giordano
December 1, 2023 by The Old Prof
If the Toronto Maple Leafs hoped to make their games a bit more thrilling for fans, they succeeded once again on Thursday night. Fortunately, Mitch Marner finally jumped up to show his offensive ability with the second hat trick of his career.
Between Marner and Joseph Woll in goal, the Maple Leafs beat the Seattle Kraken 4-3. By the way, just for good measure, Marner also scored the shootout winner.
Despite looking a bit like a Star Wars Stormtrooper by wearing a full shield and cage due to his recent injury, Marner broke an eight-game goal-scoring drought with a three-goal game. Auston Matthews also jumped in to contribute two assists and a shootout goal. While Marner was the night’s hero, the team would not have won without the stellar play of Woll. He made crucial save after save to keep his team in the game and led to their shootout win.
The Kraken put up a strong performance, but the Maple Leafs emerged with a hard-fought win.
