Report: Jacob Markstrom Blocked Trade to the Los Angeles Kings

It is no secret the Los Angeles Kings were in the hunt for goaltending at this season’s trade deadline. On deadline day, it was reported they struck a deal with the Boston Bruins to acquire goaltender Linus Ullmark before he shut it down by his no-trade clause. Recently, Nick Kypreos reported on Kyper’s Korner that a deal was in place to send Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames to the Kings, but he shut it down with his no-trade clause too.
Flames Better off to Shut Markstrom Down for Season

The Calgary Flames are expecting Jacob Markstrom to return in the near future. The 34-year-old has been out of the lineup for over a week with a lower-body injury, sustained prior to a game on March 12 versus the Colorado Avalanche.

Barring a miracle, the Calgary Flames will miss the playoffs for the second straight season. While there was some optimism this group could bounce back after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, it has since become obvious the current roster simply isn’t good enough. General manager Craig Conroy realized just that, and has moved on from Tyler Toffoli, Nikita Zadorov, Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev, and Noah Hanifin in return for a ton of draft picks, a few roster players, and some prospects.

Obviously, you must have the ability to get under the opponent’s skin, but you don’t want to be consistently putting your team at a disadvantage by taking silly penalties.
