The Los Angeles Kings fell in Round 1 to the Edmonton Oilers in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs. It was an up-and-down season for the Kings, going through multiple winning and losing streaks as well as making a coaching change midseason. While they are only now leaving the rebuilding stage and entering contention, there is reason to believe they need to add through free agency to get the roster to the next level. Once they address their primary needs, they will be in a prime position to bring the Stanley Cup back to Los Angeles.

Forward Options

The Kings have no lack of talent in the forward core. They have Anze Kopitar, Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Phillip Danault, and Trevor Moore locked into contracts for next season and beyond. They have youngsters Quinton Byfield and Alex Laferriere beginning to catch their strides at the NHL level. As well, they have a plethora of young talent pushing to make and stay, on the NHL roster, such as Alex Turcotte, Arthur Kaliyev, Samuel Fagemo, and Akil Thomas. There is no lack of options here, but the team needs to improve its depth by adding a veteran winger who can provide offense and physicality.

Daniel Sprong

One fun player to target is Daniel Sprong. He is a 6-foot, 195-pound right wing who is best known for his shot. He uses his size to create leverage, pushing hard towards the center of the ice to create better scoring opportunities. He scored 18 goals and 43 points this past season with the Detroit Red Wings playing just 12 minutes a night, but he has been on five different teams in the past six seasons.
