Lightning’s Nikita Kucherov Named 2024 NHL All-Star
January 4, 2024 by Harrison Smajovits
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov has been given the nod for another trip to the NHL All-Star. This will be the fifth All-Star selection of his career. Kucherov played in last year’s All-Star Game and previously played in three straight All-Star Games from 2017 to 2019.
Lightning Places Sergachev on LTIR as Blueline Depth Dwindles
January 4, 2024 by Jim Bay
The Tampa Bay Lightning placed defenseman Mikhail Sergachev on injured reserve Wednesday due to a lower-body injury, per CapFriendly. He has been out since Dec. 21, and putting him on injured reserve gives the team a chance to call someone up to fill out an already depleted blue line. He has two goals, 19 points, and 69 blocked shots in 33 games this season.
5 Lightning Players Who Need a Strong 2024 Performance
January 4, 2024 by Harrison Smajovits
The Tampa Bay Lightning were plagued with unfamiliar issues in the 2023 half of this season. Defensive woes and lack of production throughout the roster are two that stick out. Currently, the Lightning find themselves out of a playoff spot with other contenders holding up to four games in hand. If the Lightning want to avoid being on the outside looking in come playoff time, something needs to change. While they will look to add at the trade deadline, there are already players on the team who would make a big difference if they stepped up. Here are five players who can elevate their impact immediately.
Current Lightning Players’ Successes at the World Juniors
January 3, 2024 by Jim Bay
The Tampa Bay Lightning have one representative playing in the 2024 World Junior Championships (WJC). Isaac Howard has played quite well for Team USA and has helped lead them to the number one seed in Pool B heading into the quarterfinals. Throughout the past 15 years, many current and former Lightning organization members have significantly impacted their teams in this tournament. Here is a look at some players and their moments in this tournament.
WJC Standout Isaac Howard Making Lightning’s Future Very Bright
January 2, 2024 by Harrison Smajovits
Isaac Howard is a rare first-round pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to 2022, when Howard was selected 31st overall, the team hadn’t picked in the first round since 2019. They also didn’t have one in 2023. The next opportunity to make another selection is in 2026. Much of the team’s future hangs on the success of his development. Fortunately for the Lightning, Howard is showing what he’s got in a big way at the 2024 World Junior Championship (WJC).
Eyssimont’s Relentlessness Paved Way to Lightning Roster
January 2, 2024 by Nick Haydon
“Who is Michael Eyssimont?” His name seemed to appear out of nowhere as a regular on the Tampa Bay Lightning’s roster this season. Some initial research revealed that he has never played a full NHL season. In fact, he has played less than 100 games for three different teams in three years. I would have never guessed he was anything but a seasoned, NHL veteran who perfectly embodies a bottom-six forward.
3 New Year’s Resolutions for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2024
January 1, 2024 by Jim Bay
Despite being in playoff contention, the Lightning still have a lot of work to do in 2024 if they want to qualify for this season’s chase for the Stanley Cup. After overcoming the loss of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy at the start of the season, the Lightning continued to play inconsistently for most of the first part of the season. This leads to a few resolutions for the team that will hopefully help them improve in 2024 and give them a chance to make a deep playoff run.
