Maple Leafs: Predicting Tyler Bertuzzi’s Next Contract
March 30, 2024 by Jesse Courville-Lynch
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be focused on making a deep playoff run this season after a strong 2023-24 campaign. They made their intentions known at the 2024 Trade Deadline with the acquisitions of Ilya Lyubushkin, Connor Dewar, and Joel Edmundson as the team proved they were ready to try and go all in. While those three acquisitions may not move the needle much, the Maple Leafs have a lot of depth in their lineup and could surprise many hockey fans around the NHL. Before the 2023-24 season started, the Maple Leafs decided to sign forward Tyler Bertuzzi to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million, and he has been an interesting addition.Â

3 Maple Leafs Prospects Who Could See NHL Time Next Season
March 29, 2024 by JP Gambatese
Considering that the Toronto Maple Leafs will be in a bit of a cap crunch next season as a byproduct of Auston Matthews’ and William Nylander’s raises coming into effect, it’s more important than ever that they eke as much value out of depth contracts as they can. One way in which to capitalize on a player’s skill while minimizing the cap hit is by effective use of adding prospects into the lineup on their entry-level contracts (ELCs). Despite being a Stanley Cup contender, the Maple Leafs do have some solid youngsters in their pipeline who could reasonably be expected to make their debuts next season, especially when considering the necessity of finding value contracts in 2024-25.

Understandably, Toronto Maple Leafs fans might be discouraged as their team readies for the postseason. The team’s history of strong regular seasons followed by disappointing playoff exits has become a bad habit.Â
Maple Leafs Re-Sign Simon Benoit to a 3-Year Deal
March 29, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
On Friday, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have re-signed pending restricted free agent (RFA) Simon Benoit to a three-year deal worth $4.05 million. It’s a simple structure contract with an average annual value of $1.35 million per season and no signing bonuses. Benoit signed a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs last summer, worth $775,500, after the Anaheim Ducks didn’t qualify him as an RFA. Last season, he had three goals and seven assists in 73 games with the Ducks.

Last week I wrote an article about three Toronto Maple Leafs forwards who should be extended, which had the likes of Max Domi, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Nick Robertson. Well, in this piece, let’s look at the Maple Leafs’ defence and goalies, who could be extended ahead of July 1, 2024, when unrestricted free agents (UFA) become available to all 31 other NHL teams.
