Buffalo Sabres News & Rumors: Levi, Peterka, Power & Dahlin
October 13, 2023 by The Old Prof
The first game of the 2023-24 season is not one the Buffalo Sabres will remember with pride. The team struggled in their season-opener against the New York Rangers, losing on home ice 5-1.
Given the team’s high aspirations for the season, it was not an auspicious beginning for this young group. Although the Sabres showcased their promising young talent during training camp, for some reason, the team came out flat in the season’s inaugural game.
Maple Leafs News & Rumors: Minten, Samsonov, Reaves & Benoit
October 14, 2023 by The Old Prof
In this edition of Toronto Maple Leafs News & Rumors, I’ll wonder aloud whether Fraser Minten will be moving back to juniors before his 10-game stint is up. He has three things that could be checked off on the “Keep in the NHL Side” – skill, smarts, and he’s a natural center. However, he likely needs more development before he lands with the Maple Leafs for good.
Second, I’ll report that Ilya Samsonov will start tonight against the Minnesota Wild. Although he didn’t give up any goals that were flat-out stinkers, he gave up five goals on not-so-many shots. Hopefully, he can have a bounce-back game at home.
Canucks News & Rumors: Boeser, McDavid, Demko & More
October 13, 2023 by Sartaaj Bhullar
In this edition of the Vancouver Canucks News & Rumors, the Canucks opened up the season with a massive 8-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The organization has emphasized the importance of a good start, and there is no better way than to blow out a Stanley Cup favourite in the season opener. Brock Boeser scored four goals and discussed what he needs to do to continue to play at the same level. Also, Connor McDavid was unhappy with some of the Canucks decisions late in the game, while Thatcher Demko played with flu. Additionally, Elias Pettersson posted four points, showing he is ready to post another career year.
