Keefe Calls Out Maple Leafs for Defensive Failures
March 20, 2024 by The Old Prof
How frustrated was Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe after his team lost 4-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night? His words speak for themselves. Keefe said, “we just didn’t play well enough in our half of the ice with or without the puck. We weren’t sharp. We weren’t sharp mentally. We couldn’t pass the puck. We couldn’t handle the puck. We didn’t defend. There was a lot not to like.”

The Toronto Maple Leafs faced a tough 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, leaving little for their fans to celebrate. Missing Marner & Keefe Decisions Lead Maple Leafs to Flyers Loss
March 20, 2024 by Spencer Lazary
The Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Philadelphia Flyers for the second time in less than a week, and it didn’t go the same as it did last Thursday (March 14). The Flyers came out and scored less than 30 seconds into the game, and after that, it felt that the Maple Leafs just didn’t have it. Even after Ryan Reaves and Nic Deslauriers stood at center ice and chucked knuckles, which led to Reaves leaving the game with an eye injury, the team just didn’t have energy early. Additionally, John Tortorella scratched a handful of his players, including his captain Sean Couturier, which came as a shock to many and should have caught the attention of the Maple Leafs’ players.

Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs will again face the Philadelphia Flyers after last week’s 6-2 trouncing. In the rematch, fans should watch for several things. First, the Flyers have played far better this season than expected. Part of that is the influence of their fiery head coach, John Tortorella. He’ll be back behind the bench after a recent suspension. As a result, he should have his team determined and anxious to bounce back from last week’s poor showing.
