The Edmonton Oilers are navigating an interesting development in their forward lines. On Monday morning, Evander Kane was skating alongside Leon Draisaitl and Warren Foegele, up in the top six, while Ryan McLeod was back, but on the third line. This shift comes amidst a successful 10-game winning streak for the Oilers and with Kane taking a subtle shot at the opportunities he was getting to produce in an elevated role.

Oilers are Winning in Unusual Ways, and That’s a Good Thing

On Saturday (Jan. 13), the Edmonton Oilers set a new franchise record by winning their 10th consecutive game when Eric Bouchard scored in overtime to defeat the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 at the Bell Centre.
Edmonton’s previous longest winning streak had been nine games, which the Oilers accomplished twice, in 2000-01 and 2022-23. This has been an incredible stretch for the team, who haven’t lost since Dec. 19 and have outscored the opposition by a total of 22 goals over their 10 straight victories.

In an Edmonton Oilers news and rumors update, Connor McDavid celebrated his 27th birthday with a 10th straight win, putting this roster in the franchise history books. But, while a great day for McDavid and the Oilers, there was some less-than-great news for two members of the team, both of whom were excluded from the 2024 All-Star Game.
