The Best 5 Agitators in the NHL
March 21, 2024 by Alex Chauvancy
What does it take to be a good agitator in today’s NHL? Obviously, you must have the ability to get under the opponent’s skin, but you don’t want to be consistently putting your team at a disadvantage by taking silly penalties. You have to be able to annoy your opponent on the scoresheet as well, and you certainly can’t be a waste of a roster spot. There are some players who have mastered the art of toeing the line of illegal and legal to find a way to get their opponents off of their games. Here are the five best at it in the entire NHL.
Markstrom Non-Committal About Future with Flames

It might be a blessing for the Calgary Flames to have an elite goalie like Jacob Markstrom on their team, but it is one they might not have for much longer. 4 Other College Free Agents Flames Should Look At

It’s mid-March, and that means most college hockey seasons are coming to an end. This means that many players are now free to speak and potentially sign with NHL teams. Plenty are without a home altogether, having gone undrafted in the NHL and aging out/graduating. Lots will still have years of eligibility remaining, but could be enticed to turn pro early with the right situation. The Calgary Flames have done relatively well signing college free agents from a historical standpoint; legendary Flames players such as Jamie Macoun and Joel Otto went undrafted, were snagged by the team, and went on to have very respectable careers. Otherwise, Flames greats like Joe Mullen and Curtis Glencross had similar stories, albeit getting their original shot with other teams.
