January 11, 2024 by Stefano Rubino
The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend begins on Feb. 1, where not only will Auston Matthews be the hometown star, but Canadian music artist Justin Bieber will be part of the event’s festivities. The Toronto Maple Leafs announced through social media on Thursday, Jan. 11, that Justin Bieber, the team’s two-time Grammy Award-winning artist and lifetime fan, will be joining and be a part of the NHL’s All-Star Weekend.
Are Maple Leafs As Mediocre as Hockey Analysts Think?
January 11, 2024 by The Old Prof
Although the Toronto Maple Leafs are on a bit of a winning streak, that’s not making much of an impression on hockey analysts who do power rankings for various sites. On Wednesday, the CBS Sports NHL Power Rankings came out, and the Maple Leafs were in the top 10 of the NHL, but barely. They were ranked 10th in the league with a playoff probability of 91.4%.Â
Interestingly, in Leafs Nation most of us consider our team a lock for the playoffs. We take it for granted; and, our concerns turn to the deep postseason run we hope the Blue & White go on. Others suggest that the team’s chances are relatively high, but not a sure thing. They see the team as a bit mediocre.
Maple Leafs’ Matthew Knies Leaves Practice With Injury
January 10, 2024 by Michael DeRosa
With the Toronto Maple Leafs’ next game being on Jan. 11 against the New York Islanders, the Original Six club practiced today (Jan. 10). Unfortunately, their team practice has now been overshadowed by some bad news.
Maple Leafs rookie Matthew Knies left the team’s practice early after suffering a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old winger needed help leaving the ice from his teammates. He also could not put any weight down on his leg. At the time of this writing, an injury update has not been provided on Knies. However, given the way he left the ice, it is impossible not to feel concerned about the young forward.
